Individual Assessment: Project Evaluation Reflection

Learning Outcomes
Identify and analyze ethical concerns and make reasoned ethical choices.
Evaluate the sustainability of the implementation and operation of an engineering design.
Evaluate an engineering design's ability to function in an inclusive and accessible manner.

What to do

For this part of the individual assessment, you need to submit a new development experience on mySkills, reflecting on the process you used to evaluate your engineering design. You should consider how you applied ethical engineering based on your own and others' value systems, as well as your approach to being sustainable and inclusive.

No specific word count is required, but if you are looking for some guidance, we would suggest around 250 words (1250 characters) for these sorts of reflections. Help to get started with mySkills and recording a development experience is provided below. You can access mySkills through Careers Connect at:

https://careerconnect.sheffield.ac.uk/

Once you have completed your development experience on mySkills, you need to save it as a PDF file. This file must then be submitted on Blackboard.

Sheffield Graduate Attributes (SGAs)

When completing your reflection, you should consider how your experience relates to the Sheffield Graduate Attributes. In particular, you may want to consider those skills associated with My Impact, such as equality and inclusion and/or ethics and sustainability. More information on the Sheffield Graduate Attributes can be found at:

My Impact

Why is it important to record reflections on your experience?

Recording your development experiences is an important part of your personal and professional development. It is very beneficial when applying for jobs or promotions. It is of particular importance for engineers, who frequently have to demonstrate their competencies to professional bodies and their approach to continued professional development (CPD). In order for your degree to be accredited, you must demonstrate that you have met the Engineering Council's requirements to "Plan and record self-learning and development as the foundation for lifelong learning/CPD."
